So here's thea deal. I am not the only one out there that agree's with me when I say this but... I really enjoy a good cup of coffee! I am no coffee connoisser like my friends Gabe and Joel with TasteTheNations but to the person that doesnt know much... oh yes... I am! So a couple months back Janice and I purchased a starbucks barista espresso machine and its pretty much the best thing ever. I have been making bad latte's for the longest time but for the past couple weeks... I think I have found my niche'. I have come to grips with making a great latte. I find it perfect for those "after meal" relaxers. Y'know what I mean... just after a good meal and your almost full, already full or stuffed, its the coffee that seals the deal. This is what I do. Step 1) Take whole milk around 2-4 cups (i dont measure it, i just fill my cup that I am going to drink out of to 2/3 full and use that as my mark to measure), steam it to about....165-172 degress. I make sure I spend the last 10 seconds or so to froth the milk. Step 2) I fill my espresso thingy w/ fresh ground Starbucks Espresso (you can actually use any one you like... I just have Starbucks), press it to make sure its packed tight kinda like a million little mexicans crossing the border all in one 1972 Yellow and Brown Volkswagon Beatle. That makes sure to get all the flavor of the crushed bean. Step 3) My espresso fills 2 1oz. shot glasses of espresso at a time so.... I always have 2 shots in each cup. Yippee!!!! I wonder why my eye's twich so much? Step 4) I add Hazelnut flavored creamer (I like it) to my cup, immideately pour in my two shots, then fill it with my hot milk. For me... just before I add the froth, I stir and mix it really quick. Some dont like to do that because they like to make designs and you cant if you do that but thats my next lesson... making latte art! THEN... Step 5) Add the froth and a dash of cinniman sugar. That my friend is the Johnny B 5 step program. Come over sometime and I'll be glad to make you a cup. Below are some of the pictures of tonights cup that inspired this post.

Yeah... thats right... it IS a coffee cup from Bangkok Thailand... I'll be seeing more of those in the future. |
